Winemaker - Neil Moorhouse
Diamond Award Winning Wines: 2010 Zorgvliet Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 Zorgvliet Richelle 2006 2009 Zorgvliet Richelle 2005
Zorgvliet Wines, with award winning winemaker, Neil Moorhouse and
his team, are producing world-class wine from the well sought after Banhoek
Valley. The two wines that deserve special mention are, naturally, the wines
that were awarded The Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 has been faring exceptionally well of late. Besides being awarded a Winemakers' Choice Diamond, it was awarded a double gold at the Michelangelo Awards and this year has been taken on board by SAA . The Richelle, Zorgvliet’s flagship, is a bordeaux style blend, named after Mac van der Merwe's eldest grandchild. The 2006 vintage is the follow up of the 2005 which received a Winemakers' Choice Diamond Award in 2009. Neil, despite his obvious dedication to all the wines in his portfolio, is particularly passionate about Cabernet Franc and Tannat. On the white wine side of things, he’s very fond of the five-thirty-five Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is vinified from thirteen rows of Sauvignon Blanc situated 535m above sea level - hence the name. It is made as naturally as possible, with fermentation taking place on the skins and the only intervention being that of adding some sulphur. It is not fined, filtered or protein stabilized and there is no acidification. And to capture the essence of no intervention, it is bottled by hand. The cellar, restaurant and tasting room at Zorgvliet are nestled in the beautiful Banhoek Valley and are well worth the visit. If, however, this is not possible, we can always recommend, together with the winemakers' of the Winemakers' Choice Awards, that you try a bottle of Zorgvliet Cabernet Sauvignon or Richelle.
Môreson Wines
Winemaker - Clayton Reabow
Diamond Award Winning Wines: 2010 Môreson Premium Chardonnay 2009 2008 Môreson Pinotage 2007
Môreson winemaker, Clayton Reabow, is smiling. He’s taken the vision of Môreson and is turning it from a dream into a reality. Môreson, in Franschhoek, has always taken pride in its production of premium chardonnay. Their goal now is to become purely a chardonnay producer - a top producer of chardonnay and chardonnay related products. With this focus, it is no wonder that Clayton’s Premium Chardonnay 2009 has been awarded a diamond by the winemakers’ at the recent Winemakers' Choice Awards. In being awarded a Diamond, the first stake has been firmly planted in realising this dream. We anticipate that Môreson will continue to achieve what they have set out to do.
